ADR Training North East

ADR Training North East

Do you carry Dangerous Goods in Packages, Road Tankers or Tank Containers?

All drivers carrying dangerous goods that come within the scope of The Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations, commonly known as "ADR", are required to hold a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC). A VTC can only be obtained by successfully completing an approved course delivered by an Approved Centre.

Did you know that since January 2007 the "less than 3.5 tonnes GVW" exemption no longer applies?

If your load falls within the scope of the dangerous goods regulations, a short wheel base Ford Transit or a Vauxhall Movano can carry enough to mean that the driver requires an ADR Certificate for the appropriate class or classes of dangerous goods being carried.

ADR Teesside is approved to run ADR training courses from our training centre in Middlesbrough in the North East of England, or, if you have suitable premises we can provide onsite training.

Standard ADR Initial Course

Our standard ADR initial course runs over five days and covers 10 modules;

  • Core
  • Packages
  • Tanks
  • Class 2 - Gases
  • Class 3 - Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 - Flammable Solids
  • Class 5 - Oxidising Agents
  • Class 6 - Toxic Substances
  • Class 8 - Corrosives
  • Class 9 - Miscellaneous
  • plus the exams on the final day.

(Class 1 - Explosives and Class 7 - Radioactives; are always run as stand-alone modules and are available on request.)

We appreciate that according to the type of dangerous goods they carry, not all drivers require all of the modules. For example if you are employed to deliver fuel to garages then all you need is the Core Module, Tankers and the Class 3 (Flammable Liquids) module so our ADR training can be tailored to suit your individual needs or the needs of your business.

Examinations:

You will have to pass examinations for the modules and classes you require. The exams are multiple choice format and the passmark required is 70%. If in the unlikely event you have failed a module or class, you only need to come back and sit the module or class that you have failed.

We run Initial Training Courses monthly and we also offer ADR training at weekends to suit your staff availability and shift patterns if that is what you would prefer.
